Functions of Council

Council is responsible for all the functions that are necessary to govern the College, among these are the following:

 

  • Development of an institutional strategic plan.
  •  Address past imbalances in the areas of gender and disability.
  • Determine the institution’s language policy.
  • Ensure that the system transforms in the desired direction.
  • Ensure the proper management and governance of the College.
  • Ensure that the College system can expand to meet the country’s needs.
  • Ensure that the College achieve the level of functionality required for improved performance and accountability.

Functions of the Board

1. The Board accounts to College Council for the following:

All Academic functions at the College

Promoting inclusion of women and the disabled in learning programmes

Ensuring adequate internal monitoring and quality assurance procedures (programmes)

Identifying and determining learning programmes

Developing appropriate policies and strategies that include admissions and the participation of marginalized groups

Ensuring accreditation of programmes on offer and their alignment with National Qualification Framework requirements.

2. The Board must advise the Council on a code of conduct and rules concerning students.

Determine the persons to whom scholarships and academic prizes are awarded

Establish committees to perform any of its functions, and may for purpose deem a single person to be a committee

3. The Board submits to the Council –

Reports upon its work as may be required by the Council

Recommendations on matters referred to it by the Council

Recommendations on any other matter affecting the College that the Board considers useful
